World Food Day
World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on October 16th. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Likewise, Khyber Medical University Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad campus celebrated World Food Day Under the supervision of Dean Prof.Dr. Haider Darrain, Director Sheikh Atif Mehmood and Dt. Hajra Malik of Nutrition Department of Allied Health sciences. The aim of celebrating this day was to create awareness among students about food crisis , hunger rate in pakistan and solution to tackle these issues at institutional, national and international level. Students of KMU Islamabad societies also participated.
Dean of Allied Health sciences, Director and Dt.Hajra Malik gave speeches emphasizing the importance of this day. They highlighted food related issues which our country is facing.It is said that , “In the face of a looming global food crisis, we need to harness the power of solidarity and collective momentum to build a better future where everyone has regular access to enough nutritious food,”At the end of awareness session, Healthy meal were provided to all staff of university with the theme of “Feeding the world, caring for earth”.It is also said that, KMU-IHS Islamabad campus will continue to celebrate such events every year.
